KILNWOOD & FIRE

A WOOD-FIRED KITCHEN, OPEN TUESDAY TO SATURDAY

Cooked over fire. Served without ceremony.

Twelve dishes, one oven and a short list of producers. The menu follows what arrives that week rather than what the kitchen wishes had.

01 / THE KITCHEN

A short menu. A hot oven.

Everything that can be cooked over wood is. The oven runs from midday and the menu changes as the seasons and the suppliers do, which keeps the list short enough to cook well.

Kiln is a fictional restaurant, drawn here as a website concept. The dishes, producers and opening hours are illustrative, and no table is reserved from this page.

How the menu is built ↗

03 / HOW A MENU IS BUILT

Fewer dishes. Better reasons.

A restaurant website carries one practical job before service: tell a guest what kind of evening to expect.

01 / WHAT ARRIVES

Start with the delivery.

Produce, fish and meat arrive on different days, so the menu is written after the market rather than months before it.

02 / WHAT THE FIRE DOES

Decide what the oven suits.

Some things want embers and time, others want high heat for a minute. The oven decides more of the menu than the kitchen does.

03 / WHAT LEAVES

Cut what cannot keep up.

A dish that only works on a quiet night is not ready for a full service. Short lists stay honest.

MENU / TABLE / PRODUCERS

A restaurant website built around a readable menu and a single, clear table request.

04 / REQUEST A TABLE

Tell us when. See the evening.

Prepare a table request and download a copy for yourself. Nothing is sent from this form and no table is held.

TABLE REQUEST

The request is assembled on your device so you can see which details a restaurant needs before it answers.

THE BUSINESS BEHIND THE DESIGN / ELVARNUE

Help guests understand the evening before they book.

Restaurants, wine bars and small hospitality kitchens.

The problem this addresses

A menu published as a PDF is invisible to search and awkward on a phone. A plain menu page, an honest description of the room and one table request keep the visitor moving without a booking platform on day one.

Explore the interactions

  • Filter the sample menu by cooking method.
  • Read what the kitchen does before deciding on an evening.
  • Prepare a table request around party size, timing and seating.

What we could deliver for you

A responsive restaurant website with agreed menu templates, an about page, opening hours, allergy notes and enquiry fields. Reservations, payments and review feeds are quoted separately if you need them.

What we need to get started

Approved food photography and usage rights, the menu structure, allergen wording you must display, opening hours and the questions your team answers on the phone.

Design decisions

  • The menu is text rather than an image, so it can be read on a phone and found by search.
  • Prices are left out of this concept; inventing them would misrepresent a real kitchen's economics.
  • The room is described honestly as fictional, because invented reviews and awards would read as real.
